Dear Sierra Pres friends & family,

What a meaningful morning we shared this past Sunday as we continued our Hope series with a look at Psalm 107 and the theme of witness. Together we considered how God calls each of us to share the hope we have found in Him with others. This is most effective as we share our own stories and experiences rather than outsourcing our witness. It was also a special time as we gathered around the Lord's Table for Communion, remembering what Christ has done for us and renewing our commitment to follow Him. Thank you to everyone who worshiped with us in person and online, and to all who served so faithfully to make that morning possible.

This Sunday, Sept. 13, I am glad to welcome our Transitional Pastor, George Dakin, to the pulpit as he begins a new series exploring the Essentials of the Faith with a message from 2 Timothy 3:14-17. It will be a wonderful opportunity to root ourselves in the truth of God's Word and consider why Scripture matters so deeply for how we live and believe. I look forward to seeing what God will teach us together as we begin this new season of study.

I also want to remind you that our Called Congregational Meeting will be held this Sunday, Sept. 13, between our two morning services. This is an important gathering for our church family as we vote on those nominated to serve on the Nominating Committee. The nominees are:

I encourage every member to make plans to attend. Please plan to stay between services that morning, as your presence and participation matter to the life and future of our church.

A Note from Our Deacons

The Deacon Fund, established many years ago, is for the purpose of providing financial assistance to those in need within our congregation. Through relationships with our church members, Deacons hear of people in our congregation that might need assistance with housing, utility, medical or dental bills, food or other dire situations. Deacon Fund envelopes can be found in the sanctuary seats along with offering envelopes.

As you might imagine, times are tough, and we have seen a rise in demand for assistance. That is why our Deacon Fund is so important and why we appreciate those who can give and give with an open heart. This is a ministry in and of itself, it is local, and it could touch someone you know.

Through your generosity we’ve had funds this past year that have helped many families and individuals in our congregation, a year that has seen a rise in those needing financial assistance. Our Deacon Fund blessed both families and individuals in the way of mid-year and Christmas blessings as well as additional financial support. We appreciate your continued generosity because I predict the need will be even greater this year.

Next-Gen Intern
The Sierra Presbyterian Church Intern Program is intended to equip and train, producing growth in Christian faith and character, while also providing practical ministry experience through teamwork and leadership in the children’s and youth ministry programs.
