Dear Sierra Pres friends & family,
I hope you all have been blessed as we've walked through these Psalms. Last Sunday we began considering Psalms of Reorientation. These are Psalms where there is still some lament and struggling but there is also a turn towards God. These Psalms help reframe our feelings of disorientation and doubt without dismissing them. On Sunday we looked at Psalm 77 and considered the importance of remembering that we follow a God who remembers us first. We don't remember and look back to recreate what once was. We remember to recall God's character and help us see a new future where God has remembered his people. This Sunday will celebrate communion together and look at Psalm 51. Through Psalm we will wrestle with the importance of confession. I know the idea of confession may be challenging for many of us who may feel shame around what we've done or have a history with obligatory times of confession. However, it is my hope and prayer that we can recover this essential spiritual discipline which can lead to a greater experience of forgiveness as we follow Jesus. I hope you can join us in person for worship at 9am or 10:30am.
