Volunteer

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

One of the best ways to get plugged in at Sierra Pres is by serving in one of our weekly ministries.  Fill out the form below and we will help you find the best role for you to serve in based on your interests, gifts and availability.

Volunteer in the Community
Our goal is to be a church that serves our local community in tangible ways that lead to building intentional relationships with others.  Sierra Pres is involved with many local mission partners who we see as being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.  We encourage our growth groups to work together to volunteer with these local mission partners with the intention of strengthening friendships with those whom we are volunteering with and building meaningful relationships with those whom we are serving.  Here are some of our local mission partners below that both our church as a whole, our growth groups, and individuals serve.
Interfaith Food Ministry

During the year, Sierra Pres hosts several events with our ministry partners.

Santa’s Shoppe with Kare Krisis Nursery
This is an event where children can buy gifts (for 25 cents each) and have them wrapped for their family and friends.  We have snacks, beverages and crafts that families can enjoy as well.  Free photos are available with Santa.

LINC
Love In Nevada County is a yearly event where many churches in the county come together as one body to serve our community in practical ways.  There are many ways to serve the ministry partners above along with local schools and community parks.  This event is a wonderful way to serve alongside other Christians in the county.

Earl Jamison Highschool Basketball
Each week during the school year, students from Earl Jamison come to Sierra Pres to play basketball with our pastor and several other people from our church.  We provide refreshments and have fun shooting hoops.

NU Football Team Pre-game Dinner
During the football season, Sierra Pres hosts a dinner before each NU Football home game.  We enjoy food together and bless them before they play.

Hospice of the Foothills
Each Year Sierra Pres hosts a night of remembrance for those who have passed away under the care of Hospice.  Family, friends and community are invited to remember and celebrate their lives.

Volunteer FAQ

How do I volunteer?

Getting started is easy. Simply fill out our volunteer form and let us know what areas interest you—whether that's working with kids, music, students, community service, or another ministry area. Someone from our ministry team will reach out to discuss opportunities that match your gifts and availability. We'll provide any training you need, and you'll join a community of fellow servants working together to live out our mission.

How do I volunteer with kids?

Our children's ministry is always looking for dedicated volunteers to help us create a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment where kids grow in their faith. We offer opportunities in our Sunday school programs, children's events, nursery care, and special activities. All volunteers working with children must complete a  background check and be finger-printed as part of our commitment to child safety. If you love kids and want to invest in the next generation, we'd love to have you!

How do I volunteer with music?

Music is central to our worship life at Sierra Pres. Whether you're a vocalist, instrumentalist, sound technician, or someone who simply loves music and wants to serve, we have opportunities for you. You can join our worship band, sing in the choir, help with sound and tech during services, or assist with special music events. No audition necessary—just a willingness to use your musical gifts to lead others in worship and praise.

How do I volunteer with students?

Our students' ministry is seeking committed adults to serve as mentors, small group leaders, event helpers, and discipleship guides. These roles are essential as we work to help students grow in their faith during these formative years. Whether you're leading a Bible study, planning events, or simply being a caring adult presence in their lives, your investment matters. All volunteers working with students must complete a  background check and be finger-printed as part of our commitment to  safety. We provide training and support, and you'll work alongside other adults who are passionate about the next generation.
